The lanterns of Hoi An are everywhere — hanging above every street in the old town, swaying over the Thu Bon River, glowing in every photograph anyone takes of this place. What most visitors don't know is that they're still made by hand, in small family workshops tucked into the villages just outside the old town, by craftspeople who have been doing this for generations.
This two-hour tour gets you into one of those workshops. You cycle there with your local guide, learn the history and craft from the artisan directly, make your own lantern from scratch, and bring it home. It's one of the most genuinely hands-on things you can do in Hoi An — and one of the few souvenirs you'll actually want to keep.
